Who is Paul Badea

Presence
Life keeps changing faster than any of us can fully explain with a rational mind. The one thing I keep coming back to as true is the present moment — a state I call presence. I build lean companies with free people and look to China to see where the industry is going. Underneath the cars and the numbers, the real work is staying present while building something that performs.

The number
In 2013, BADSI carried roughly €12 million in net debt. Today it sits at about €1 million in equity, still growing. Easy to write, hard to live.
My sister and I took over a distressed business and restructured it through a voluntary reorganization after insolvency. We didn’t shrink it; we focused it. We subcontracted the service operation, kept sales and marketing, and built a small elite technical team to make our partner network the best in the country.
The insolvency isn’t something I hide. It’s the most valuable credibility I own. It’s where I learned to trust, measure, delegate, and stay present when everything is on fire.

Silviana, the system behind the system
If I’m out front talking about China and frameworks, my sister Silviana is the reason there’s a business to talk about.
She runs the actual structure — the operating system beneath the operating system. Where I set direction, she makes it real and keeps it real.
We didn’t always work this well together. A real bond formed later and has held through every hard stretch since. Most of what looks like my discipline is, in practice, the structure she maintains.
Agility: the balance between structure — objectives, SOPs, metrics, the peak side made concrete — and flexibility. The healthy mix of both is the real competitive advantage in the AI era. Peak alone breaks the people producing the results.
The two ideas
Leadership presence: any strategy delivered without an authentic, open attitude won’t last. Presence is the balance between round — connection, intuition, empathy, accepting a situation as it is. Round alone is warmth with no results.

How I run a company
peak
I’d rather work with few people, very well paid out of what the company actually earns. Subcontractors instead of hierarchies. Few rules, but clear, with real autonomy. I don’t hire people so I can have employees. I hire people so we can build something together.
Presence is operational, not decorative: three minutes of breathing before a meeting, tea, meditation. Not a wellness aesthetic, but how the quality of decisions and relationships stays high. The mind as instrument, not conductor.

Trust changes people
When I was young, I totalled a brand-new Infiniti. The next morning my father handed me the keys to his own car. It became a belief I still build companies on: some people, treated with genuine honesty and trust, change in astonishing ways. I know I've collected more disappointments, but I'll keep trying anyway. It's just the only setting I have.

BADSI, China, and where the industry is going
BADSI is the business my father founded over 30 years ago — Romania’s first authorized Nissan dealer, in 1992. Today it’s a multibrand distributor focused on sales and marketing. China is the thesis, not a hobby. My job isn’t to review cars. It’s to build the system for accessing that shift. The system is the actual product.
peak
Where I land
I don’t run my texts past anyone before publishing. My opinions will shift over time and I’d rather let you see that than pretend otherwise. I’m comfortable with uncertainty. Wisdom is worth striving for. The moment you think you’ve got it is exactly when you should know you don’t.

My mother gave me unconditional love and brutal, sometimes unintended honesty in the same breath. My mother-in-law has been an ongoing teacher of love without conditions. My nephew Alex is my first real window into Gen Z—a sense of responsibility rivalled only by his mother’s, and a party spirit that exceeds my own.

The people who made me

Ramona, and the center
Ramona is the closest thing to a perfect mirror I have — the clearest reflection of my relationship with myself. Our two children, Sissi and Paul, are the rest of that center, the fixed point everything else is built around. This is the ground I stand on.

Trust changes people
When I was young, I totalled a brand-new Infiniti. The next morning my father handed me the keys to his own car and said, ‘Because I know how I raised you, and I’m sure you’ve learned your lesson.’
It became a belief I still build companies on: some people, treated with genuine honesty and trust, change in astonishing ways. Across my life I’ve collected more disappointments than satisfactions. I’ll keep trying anyway — forever and ever. Not optimism. It’s just the only setting I have.

BADSI is the business my father founded over 30 years ago — Romania’s first authorized Nissan dealer, in 1992. Today it’s a multibrand distributor focused on sales and marketing, with direct access to Chinese stock.
China is the thesis, not a hobby. Whoever understands that market first defines the next phase of the European automotive business. My job isn’t to review cars. It’s to build the system for accessing that shift. The cars are the visible part. The system is the actual product.
Where I land
I don’t run my texts past anyone before publishing. I’m comfortable with uncertainty. Wisdom is worth striving for. The moment you think you’ve got it is exactly when you should know you don’t.
If any of this resonates, you’re welcome at the table.

Ramona, and the center
Ramona is the closest thing to a perfect mirror I have — the clearest reflection of my relationship with myself. Her intuition, and the intimate moments we share, have guided me through every life-changing decision I’ve made. Our two children, Sissi and Paul — Pacs, more often than not — are the rest of that center, the fixed point everything else is built around. This is the ground I stand on. Not a footnote to the work, but the reason it holds.

Trust changes people
When I was young, I totalled a brand-new Infiniti. The next morning my father handed me the keys to his own car and said, ‘Because I know how I raised you, and I’m sure you’ve learned your lesson.’ The honest twist is that I hadn’t learned it, and by my own logic I might have done it again. But the trust and honesty in his voice changed me permanently. It became a belief I still build companies on: some people, treated with genuine honesty and trust, change in astonishing ways.

BADSI is the business my father founded over 30 years ago — Romania’s first authorized Nissan dealer, in 1992. Whoever understands that market first defines the next phase of the European automotive business.
Where I land
I don’t run my texts past anyone before publishing. My opinions will shift over time and I’d rather let you see that than pretend otherwise. I’m comfortable with uncertainty. It matters more to act on the understanding you have and improve from the feedback than to hide inaction behind gathering more knowledge.
